ROSARIUM

The collection is dedicated to the rose. The rose has a remarkably long history, longer than mankind. The primary rose hips, the predecessors of today’s roses, were found among 35-million-year-old fossils, but it was only with people’s aid that the rose was able to show its beauty and charm. Attention, care and admiration gave it the strength to evolve into one of the most beautiful flowers.

In the process of care and attention that we humans have offered to roses repeatedly, from generation to generation, what we have attained is the flourishing of ever novel blossoms, in an ever-richer palette of colors and scents, offering us a mirror in which we have encountered the experience of perfection, with a touch of beauty that transcends the limits of the tangible. The rose has become a symbol of noteworthy moments in our lives, an expression of the deepest feelings. As such it is woven into our cultural heritage. Printed on a silk square, it whispers stories between the past and the future, between the seen and the dreams to come.

Mr. Gary Bukovnik, an internationally renowned painter, created the images of the roses. Mr. Sašo Urukalo, graphic designer, placed the images on a silk square.

They are printed in a limited edition, with a certificate of authenticity and signed by the author.

ICONOTHECA VALVASORIANA

Iconotheca Valvasoriana collection of silk squares is named after the outstanding volumes published by Janez Vajkard Valvasor (1641-1693), one of the leading European polyhistorians of his time, who had dedicated his whole life to researching the world, trying to understand it and present it to others.

Sašo Urukalo, Slovenian visual communications designer, has made a selection of J. V. Valvasor’s aquarelles and merged them into a unique silk object, a bridge between the past and today, seen and dreamed.

The collection is limited to 50 silk squares in each of the three combinations of colors.
